Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)
Established in 1965, LACMA is the premier arts museum in the western United States. The original complex, designed by William L. Pereira and Associates, consisted of three raised structures that formed a courtyard above a water plaza. Architects Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer renovated the museum in the 1980s, and Renzo Piano is the architect for LACMA's extensive new building program.
